Iza Koczanowska is an artist, researcher, and spatial designer with a background in interior architecture, based between Amsterdam and Warsaw.
Through site-responsive fieldwork, material experimentation, and speculative installation-making, she investigates how territories transformed by resource extraction and mass tourism might be reimagined by renegotiating relationships between humans, more-than-human inhabitants, matter, and landscape, opening possibilities for ecological and social regeneration.
She graduated in Intermedia Arts and Interior Architecture from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, holds an MA cum laude from MIARD at the Piet Zwart Institute in Rotterdam, and studied at ENSAPC Paris-Cergy.
She has participated in art residencies at Arcus Project in Japan, Snehta in Athens, and Sesama in Yogyakarta. Among others, her work has been presented at Dutch Design Week, Festival Law of the Desert, the Nieuwe Instituut, CSW Łaźnia in Gdańsk, and in a solo exhibition at Rondo Sztuki in Katowice.
